I work with a variety of people to address trauma and the myriad of issues that arise from trauma, like addiction, depression, and anxiety. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and relational therapy.
As a clinical social worker and psychotherapist, I am trained to help individuals fine-tune their skills to understand and address the areas where they feel they are struggling or unhappy.
I believe that the keys for change lie within you.
My goal is to help you learn to understand yourself better with self-compassion. From there, we will work towards your goals. You will learn how to change behaviors that aren’t working anymore and cope with the things in your life you cannot change. I offer encouragement and support in incorporating new ways of being, and the care and gentle instruction to help each person find solutions to their unique concerns. The path towards self-reliance can often have a few bumps along the way, and I am here to make your journey as smooth as possible.
I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Texas at Austin and went on to attend Boston University and the University of Texas at Arlington for my Master of Science in Social Work. I am a board-approved supervisor and have supervised interns for the University of Texas at Austin as well as LMSWs working toward their clinical licensure. I have completed training in EMDR, Mediation, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness. I am also a Certified Positive Discipline Educator.
Most recently, I completed a three year Somatic Experiencing Training in the fall of 2016 and feel fortunate to have the opportunity to do this work. This training included over 240 hours of training plus an additional 45 hours of consultation. I began assisting with trainings in January of 2017 and continue to attend and assist with those trainings, which is more than 72 hours a year of trainings. I am now working towards certification for EMDR. Lastly, I continue to be a part of several consultation groups as a way to continue to further my training and provide the best possible care to my clients.
